Meet face to face. Keep the choice yours.
Random video chat introduces you to someone outside your usual circle. It is spontaneous, not a promise of instant chemistry—and you choose whether to keep the conversation going.
Prepare your space before you join
Check what your camera can see. A plain background helps avoid showing addresses, documents, family photographs, or people who have not agreed to be on camera. Use headphones when possible so a stranger's audio is not broadcast to everyone around you.
The video page asks for browser permission and provides a local preview before matchmaking. Previewing your camera does not mean you are already talking to someone. Join only when you're comfortable with your framing and surroundings.
A match and a media connection are different
OpenTalk matching finds another person in video mode. Omegleweb and OpenTalk visitors may meet in the same video matching pool. Your browsers then negotiate a direct WebRTC media connection; a black or loading tile does not necessarily mean the person has left.
The connection uses STUN for network discovery and has no TURN relay. If a firewall, NAT, or other network rule prevents a direct route, video may fail even after a successful match. There is no relay fallback or guaranteed connection time; try another network or choose text.
Know your exit before you need it
You can mute your microphone, switch your camera off, move to the next conversation, or stop. Turning the camera off is not the same as leaving the session. Use Stop when you want to end it.
If you encounter harassment, sexual content, or someone who appears underage, leave and report. Reporting supports a review process; it is not a guarantee that someone is monitoring the video in real time. Never assume a stranger cannot record their screen.
A few things worth knowing.
Is video recorded by the service?
The service does not record video. Media travels directly between browsers using WebRTC with STUN-assisted connection discovery; there is no TURN relay. A participant can still capture their own screen.
